Karen Murphy

President & Managing Partner – The FVM Agency

Karen Murphy is the President and Managing Partner of the FVM Agency in Philadelphia, PA.  She is the proud mother of three Catholic elementary school students, one of whom will be attending an Archdiocesan high school in the fall.

FVM is a full-service Philadelphia area marketing agency with a 35-year track record of serving clients in areas of branding, websites, advertising & campaigns, and content & sales enablement. No subject is too deep, no industry too technical. We “go to school” on niche target audiences to plan strategic campaigns, develop compelling storytelling, execute eye-catching design, and deliver proven results.

FVM’s clients share a common factor: audiences who make “considered purchases” — decisions that take weeks, months, or even years. While our client base began with small to mid-sized organizations in B2B markets (industrial, specialty chemical, software), we have also established expertise in the education and nonprofit space where decision-making is well-researched and comparative. Prospects require significant time and evaluation when choosing a school, or deciding whether to donate to, or volunteer at, an organization.

Our disciplined approach and storied experience apply perfectly to long sales cycles and decisions by committee. As a result, FVM knows how to develop messaging and creative that hits the right notes for niche prospects.

Our experience in education dates to our first engagement with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools in 2007. Over the course of 12 years, we worked to develop a cohesive universal brand and website for their 100+ K-12 schools, provide advertising campaign support at the Diocese-wide and individual high school levels, execute an ongoing communications program to school leaders and parents, and develop a cohesive content program.

In 2019, we supported the West Chester University Foundation with a detailed messaging framework to outline language for addressing their varied audience segments, and completed a full website overhaul, writing, designing, and developing a WordPress site that applied the fresh messaging into a comprehensive home base for prospective donors. We continue to support WCUF today with copywriting, design, and web development projects.

We’ve worked in various capacities to deliver award-winning work for Clery Center, National Catholic Education Association, Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Roman Catholic High School, Heights Philadelphia (previously Steppingstone Scholars/Philadelphia Futures) and the Diocese of Allentown Catholic Schools.

Lisa James

Lisa James holds her Bachelor of Arts degree in Corporate Communications from Alvernia University.  Her extensive background in Advancement, Marketing, Media and Public Relations makes her a well-rounded and seasoned professional of the field. While pursuing her degree, Miss James balanced her position of full time writer and editor of her university newspaper with the task of constructing PR, advertising, fundraising and event campaigns for several non-profits in Reading, PA.  Craving a multifaceted knowledge of the field, Miss James began assisting WFMZ-TV 69 News, by writing and producing the local day-side and night-side newscasts.  This work is what then led her to pick up and become a full-time member of a producing team for national day time television in New York, NY. After several years in the television industry, Miss James felt called to return to the challenges, joys, and rewarding nature of non-profit work.  As a result, Lisa was named the Director of the Legacy of Life / Community Women’s Center in Philadelphia, PA.  She was later sought out by the Healy Education Foundation to assist in the Advancement of one of their newly merged schools; St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School in Holland, Pa. After four unforgettable years working as the Director of Advancement, Lisa was called up by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to serve as the Director of Marketing at Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, PA. Six years later, Lisa continues to strive for excellence in advancing the mission and vision of Archbishop Wood.  Creating and implementing effective marketing strategies to grow enrollment; stewarding and acquiring new donors; and retention practices for those same students and benefactors is just scratching the surface in her 10 years of non-profit/advancement experience.  Her ability to work independently, while also collaborating with various teams, as needed, to achieve the goals of the departments and overall success of the organization is what sets Lisa apart from the rest.
